Rice with A Twist

Winter has arrived. Though I love cooking, when it comes to cook just for myself, I am the laziest of all. But sometimes my cravings win & I enter kitchen to cook only for me. Today afternoon was one of such ocassion. I entered my kitchen thinking about masterchef India (a reality show).Though I try my best to watch an episode in a single stretch, I have not able to do it so far.
So, lets share what I did today in kitchen. I just had a plate & I realized I have got something between plain rice & pulao.

U will need: 1 katori basmati rice, 2 green cardamom, 5 black pepper, 1 inch dalchini (cinnamon), 1 tbspn butter, 2 tspn jeera, 1 katori milk, 1 small potato, 1 carrot, salt.

Boil 2 katori water with black pepper, dalchini & green cardamom. Wash rice well. Drain & keep aside for 20-25 minutes. Peel off the potato & carrot.wash & Dice both of them.
Heat a thick bottomed kadai. Add butter. Add jeera. when it splutters, add diced Potato & carrot. Saute for 2-3 minutes. Add Boiled water. Add milk. Add rice. Add salt & cover it. Cook on medium flame for alomst 10-12 minutes. Take your ear near kadai & try to hear. If you hear a mild crackling sound, Check rice. If it is done switch off the cooking stove.

Tip of the Day: U can add vegetables of your choice. Just adjust water & milk accordingly.
It will serve u well when you want something different but not heavy. Try with mutton curry.
